Secure Your Saved Passwords In Firefox

Posted by admin on 27th June 2007

Among various Firefox features there is an important feature also which is its ability to save the passwords you enter to log on to different web sites. For ex. whenever you login at your yahoomail, there’s a window popup in which you usually click on ‘Remember’ tab so that you don’t have to type them every time you want to login.

But infact those passwords are easily accessible to anyone with access to your computer. If you don’t beleive that then follow the steps given below:

a) Navigate to Tools>>Options.

b) Click on security tab and then on show password tab.

c) Now you can see all your saved passwords in this Remember passwords window.
This is a flaw in firefox that can be very dangerous as anyone using your computer can find all your passwords within 10 seconds.

To prevent yourself from this, you have to do a little but prominent thing i.e.
Tick the ‘Set a master password’ button above the show password tab on the page and set a password there…..
Your saved passwords are safe now !!!

Increase The Speed Of Loading Pages In Firefox

Posted by admin on 17th June 2007

Here’s something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up for them. I have just tested this tweak and it does make the pages start loading significantly faster than ever before.

1. Type about:config into the address bar and hit ‘Enter’.

2. Find “network.http.pipelining” on the page and set it to “true”.

3. Find “network.http.proxy.pipelining” and do the same to it.

4. Find “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” and set it’s value in between 15 to 20.

5. Now right-click anywhere and navigate to New-> Integer, name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0″.

6. Lastly Restart Firefox.

Now if you are using a broadband connection you’ll definitely load pages faster now. You should now have a quicker, alot faster web browser that loads pages without a delay. And if you’re reading this but not doing it, then you are missing out on a serious speed increase.

How To Spell Check Search Boxes In Firefox.

Posted by admin on 13th June 2007

A built-in spell checker in Firefox enables users to quickly check the spelling of words misspelled by you in any text boxes (in which you can enter text) and also automatically correct them. But this is not the same case in the search box. Infact this doesn’t seems to work in search boxes like google search.

To make it work in search boxes as well you have to do:

1. Open Firefox.

2. Now type ‘about:config‘ in the address bar and then press ‘Enter’.

3. Doubleclick on ‘layout.spellcheckDefault‘.

4. And change it’s value to ‘2‘ and you are finished.
